I was appearing for my engineering
third year examination, for the second time,
Come on, even intelligent people
fail their exams too!! I failed first time just because from the entire book
the examiner was not good enough give at least 5 questions that I know.
The night before examination is the
most terrible for a student. For me it was a night of life and death the books
were all scattered in the room, but I don’t know which book to read because all
I wanted is guide or model papers.
In earlier exams I followed a
pattern and no matter what happens I could not change my preparation style, I
woke up at 9am and till it was 11 am I used to think that I will score minimum
80 % and then watch some cricket or movie in TV as there was lot of time until
tomorrows exam, before I realize I suddenly use to feel very hungry and get
ready for lunch. After lunch I would
take a small power nap so that my mind can relax and so I can score better
marks ,when I woke I reassessed my
situation now I instead of 80% I thought of being realistic and score not more than 60% . Then
I start calling friends asking “did you read something?”, “What is the syllabus”
and sometimes also asking “By the way what is the exam”. At 9 pm I start to
scold myself saying I wasted all the time because of this stupid good for
nothing friends and think I will be happy if I pass. After dinner start writing
cheating papers thinking were to hide and by 12 start begging god, please take
care this time from next time onwards I will not repeat such mistakes.
This time I had made all fool-proof
arrangements to pass. Day in and day out, I had sacrificed all my useless
activities that kept me unduly busy; computer games, movies, parties, discos
and many more, I gave up everything as soon as the exam time table was
announced. All my energy and efforts were now aimed at one single objective:
getting the question paper somehow!!
For this simple small secret piece
of information, there was monumental amount charged, I never thought a piece of
paper costs so much. But my friend also got the similar piece of paper with
great discount. But some time later another friend called us saying that he too
has a similar piece of paper, With the question paper in hand we thought the
most of the preparation is over we went to a bar and had a glass full of good
juice over there and we looked at the question paper we had 3 different
question papers with 10 different questions in each of them.
Then was when for the first time I
realized that there are many similarities between exam and girlfriend
Too many questions, difficult to understand,
more explanation is needed and
the end result is u always fail.
With more than 30 questions we
thought it is as good as reading entire syllabus, We thought of studying only 5
questions out of 10 but the now the equations is which 5 out of 30 .We always
studied late for the exam because it teaches us what do u call as time
management. According to newton’s 4th law for exams every book will continue to
be at rest or covered with dust until some external or internal exam moves it
We were in a state of panic as
usual, this time our parents also became restless probably they were thinking
what would happen if that one is going to create a record by getting the lowest
marks ever. Long Back, People Who Sacrificed Their Sleep, Food, Laughter and
Forgot Their Family Were Called Saints. But now they were Called "Students”.
To keep our eyes open we had to use 2 transparent plasters to stick our eyelids
to our forehead so that we don’t fall asleep. Appeasing gods and goddesses and
trying to seek divine intervention is part of our preparation.
On the exam day as soon as I got the
question paper I searched for the keywords, keywords are any word that I know,
I was able to identify few and starting writing everything I know about that
word irrespective of the question. After writing all the 5 answers, I did match
the following; I assigned the question number to each answer that will be apt
for the given question.
I would like to appreciate and also
the person who evaluated my answer sheet. I guess my parents prayers were
answered because I was amongst the top 10 scorers in the college.
